I continue to use askSam Pro 7.0.2.147 as 32-bit on Win 10 64-bit PCs. I never want to be without this magnificent application. I use it to archive tens of thousands of e-mails, handle contacts data and related free-form notes. It turns imported documents such as legislation and regulations into usefully searchable data. Asksam is a rare gem and it's a tragedy that it's ongoing development became non-viable in 2009.
Scott McEwan, I too was sad to see Asksam go --I have used it since 1994 and it became my warehouse for ideas, writing, email etc. By the way - I have begun using an app called CRAFT - and found that it's functionality in many ways can do what I was doing on Asksam and am so happy for it.
In the 1980's and 1990's I used ASKsam as a database. Then I retired and MDRU a division of University of British Columbia continued to update the database. They no longer use it and it has been updated in 10-12 years.
I have a copy of the original database file of references but am just using an xl style file format now and tried to download the old AskSam and that format especially the BOX size of titles is much bigger in the original AskSam and now when transferred it truncates the title. This is happening in other boxes such as source box too. Is there anyway someone at AskSam can help us?
